Cause of Pro’s death revealed
Family reveals what autopsy says
Multi-award-winning rapper Linda “Pro” Mkhize died of bleeding in his stomach.
In a statement released by his family on Wednesday, Pro is said to have suffered bleeding in the pancreas area according to a postmortem report the family received.
“Doctors revealed that Linda suffered from hemosuccus pancreaticus, which is bleeding in the pancreas, pancreatic duct or structures near the pancreas, such as the splenic artery... into the pancreatic duct,” the statement read.
Pro, also known as ProKid, died at his girlfriend’s flat in the Johannesburg CBD last week after a severe seizure.
A memorial service for the star was to be held at the Newtown Music Factory, central Joburg, today. His family have expressed gratitude for the support they have received since the Sekele hit maker died last week.
Hundreds of fans and industry mates gathered outside his home at Slaghuis in Diepkloof on Sunday, where they played his music and danced in his honour. Family spokesperson Nhlanhla Mohlauli said: “The images of Slaghuis really painted a picture of love for Pro.”
The musician will be laid to rest at the Westpark Cemetery on Sunday following a funeral service at UJ Soweto Campus.
Social media reacted with shock after ProKid’s albums were loaded on iTunes by his former record label, TS Records, yesterday.
Pablo said: “Pro Kid really had to die first for his albums to be dropped on all digital platforms?!” DJ Sbu of TS Records was not immediately available for comment.
