Church members threaten Idols twins

Sisters set to testify against pastor

- By Patience Bambalele

The SA Idols twins who were members of Timothy Omotoso’s ministry are getting death threats ahead of their testimony.

Anele and Neliswa Mxakaza have been receiving threats from some church members since they spoke out against Omotoso.

One of the twins, Anele, posted a shocking note she had received on Facebook. The author of the note called them liars and told them to leave Omotoso alone. “You will know how it really feels to be raped b **** . Leave Timothy alone liar. We know you stay with your sister and your kids ...”

Anele said when posting the note: “Sadly these are the kind of threats we have to deal with. This is not the first time we see such messages that are threatening us. They want to kill us because we are telling people what really happened to us.” Former church members expressed disgust at the statement posted and vowed to support the twins. Omotoso’s trial with coaccused Zukiswa Sitho and Lusanda Sulani is under way at the Eastern Cape High Court in Port Elizabeth. Omotoso was arrested on April 20 last year on rape and human trafficking charges. The two sisters, who are expected to testify in his trial, released a statement saying they knew that Omotoso was allegedly raping young girls in his Umhlanga house.

The twins were not available to comment further on the threats.
