The draw for the 2018/2019 KwaMahlobo Games took place in Meadowlands, Soweto, yesterday.

The ceremony to mark the opening of the popular annual games was attended by LaLiga Africa director, Antonio Barradas, legends Doctor Khumalo, Neil Tovey and a host of media personalities.

The games will kick off on December 19 at KwaMahlobo grounds, with the final scheduled for January 5.

A total of 40 teams went into the hat and there were some exciting draws, setting a scene for another exciting festive football season.

Barradas said the games were some of the most popular festive season games and he was happy that LaLiga was contributing in developing football in the country.

“I am glad that these games have been played in the spirit of fair play without any violence nor misdemeanour. I would want the same spirit to continue,” he said.

The games’ ambassador, ex-Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Khumalo said he wanted these tournaments to be where soccer stars are born.

“At these games, youngsters and semi-professional get to develop their football talents and, I thank LaLiga for providing the players with such a great opportunity,” he said.
