Usuthu look for strong MDC finish
City, Celtic still tied on the top spot
Having been one of the pacesetters at the start of the MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC) season, AmaZulu have since been condemned to the eighth spot on the table. Usuthu’s reversal of fortune in the run-in has left the club’s Diski coach Ayanda Dlamini lamenting their inconsistency. “We have been lacking consistency. There are games where I think we should have won, but [we] were just not strong enough. We do not like where we are,” said Dlamini after their 4-1 thumping by Kaizer Chiefs at Dobsonville Stadium at the weekend. AmaZulu are now targeting to finish in the top five. Dlamini has urged his charges to forget about their humiliation at the hands of Chiefs, consoling them that they still have an opportunity to win a trophy as they will play the MultiChoice Diski Shield (MDS) in April. “I still believe that we can fight our way back to the top five. At the start of the season, we said that we must at least finish in the top five and it’s still possible. I just have to tell my boys to lift their heads up. It’s part of the game.” Meanwhile, Cape Town City and Bloemfontein Celtic are still tied on 26 points after weekend wins over Baroka and Maritzburg respectively. The Capetonians are at the summit by virtue of superior goal difference.
In what could prove a titledecider, these two teams battle it out at Dr Molemela Stadium on Sunday.
