Masina blind to economic issues

-

I am appalled and disgusted at the lack of knowledge regarding economic issues displayed by the mayor of Ekurhuleni.

No amount of political posturing will change the economic fortunes of the majority of this country unless and until men and women of integrity draft deliberate economic policies that will take the majority of the people out of abject poverty.

Mzwandile Masina’s white monopoly capital (WMC) utterances don’t make any difference in the lives of the majority of this country. After all, socalled radical economic transformation led to massive corruption and patronage.

Ekurhuleni is one of the most industrialised metropolitan areas and has the busiest airport in this country and the question is what has the mayor done to ensure that this benefits the local population?

After all, there is no local government in Ekurhuleni. All over the metro there are huge infrastructure programmes that are rusting and remain unfinished yet cadres and tenderpreneurs have vanished with the loot.

Nationalisation is one concept that is being bandied about in order to create conditions to further loot and bankrupt the country.

VBS was nationalised and today the poor citizens of this country lost their investments through patronage and corruption.

There is no way an institution of the state, let alone private sector, can be nationalised without practical economic policy changes.

I challenge Masina to come up with practical economic policy documents that can change the economics in this country, spare the majority of this country the grinding poverty and lack of skills, and forge a new beginning.

WMC, as you refer to it, came up with deliberate socioeconomic programmes and plans to lift themselves up.
