* Lamontville Golden Arrows must do without their Zimbabwean international duo of Divine Lunga and Danny Phiri for tomorrow’s DStv Premiership clash against Kaizer Chiefs. Lunga was sent off in their last match away at Baroka FC, while Phiri has not played since last season and is struggling with a long-standing knee injury.
* A second COVID-19 test on Mohamed Salah confirmed that the Liverpool star contracted the virus while in Egypt for international duty. He first attended his brother’s wedding before being tested ahead of the two Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Togo, which he was then forced to miss.
* Former Dutch international midfielder Phillip Cocu, whose playing days included a stint at Barcelona, was fired as Derby County coach during the international window - no surprise given their shocking start to the season. Cocu has been replaced by Wayne Rooney, who steps up now as player-coach, although his time on the field is becoming more limited.
* Dylan Kerr has returned to Black Leopards as coach after his disciplinary hearing at last club Baroka FC confirmed his departure.
* Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is now facing a wait to find out if Raheem Sterling will be fit to face Tottenham Hotspur in a league clash tomorrow. The former Liverpool forward has been on international duty with England, but was withdrawn from the squad to face Iceland in the UEFA Nations League on Tuesday after missing the 2-0 defeat to Belgium on Sunday as well. He has been struggling with a calf problem.
