TTM players, staff to share R7m cup loot

Owner will add more rewards to beat axe

The players and staff of the newly crowned Nedbank Cup champions Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila will share all the R7m winning prize money.

TTM defeated Chippa United to win the cup competition at Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein at the weekend.

Owner Abram Sello told Sowetan yesterday: “My accountants are working on the calculations of all the members of our team. I will not touch a cent of the prize money, it should all go to the players, coaches and our staff. I just want the trophy. The whole amount will go to the team; the only thing that I have to do is to authorise the payment.”

Sello said the team would get more bonuses if they survive relegation.

TTM are in 14th place on 25 points from the same number of matches and the players will get a bonus per win in their remaining five games, starting with the visit to SuperSport United at Lucas Moripe Stadium tomorrow at 5pm.

“If they retain the status, I will reward them in a big way. There will be special bonuses, but we want to take it one game at a time,” said Sello.

He said the feeling of winning the trophy in their debut season in the Premiership has not yet sunk in. TTM will play in the CAF Confederation Cup next season as the winners of the FA cup in SA.

Sello said they were looking forward to venturing into Africa next season as he would boost the team.

“I am super excited about playing in Africa. I will support the team financially and will make sure that they travel to other African countries in style. I took a gamble to buy this team, but they have repaid it by winning the Nedbank Cup.”
