Last season: 8th MTN8: runners-up Nedbank Cup: first round Celtic had a below average campaign. Barring elbowing Sundowns from the MTN8 before reaching the final, Celtic never impressed this season. The Free State side were never safe from relegation from the start of the second round of the season.

They were again beset by internal strife with unpaid salaries and management squabbles that resulted in CEO Khumbulani Konco being sent packing.
