MTN8: first round Nedbank Cup: last 16 Maritzburg had a disappointing start to the season under coach Eric Tinkler, with results not forthcoming. Ernst Middendorp, who replaced Tinkler, improved the team and they started to play well. He also managed to get the best out of Thabiso Kutumela, who had an outstanding campaign and played a role in helping the club survive relegation in the end.
