Kasimir set to break R4-million barrier

- By Racing Editor

While a host of three-yearolds will be making their debut around the country at the four race meetings scheduled for the weekend, a number of their peers will be contesting the feature event tomorrow at Kenilworth, the Listed Sophomore Sprint over 1200m.

Masked Vigilante, trained by Brett Crawford, is un- beaten in two outings as a juvenile and should start his season off contesting the finish yet again.

This son of Vercingetorix followed up his maiden win with a victory in the Non-Black Type Klawervlei Farm Sale Graduate.

Rated 87 on his third birthday, it will be interesting to see if the handicapper got it right as he faces four runners rated in the 90s.

One of these is the Justin Snaith-trained Keep It Secret, who is also on a hattrick.

These two are the only runners with two victories and they should contest the finish.

The legendary sprinter Kasimir is also in action tomorrow in Kenilworth. He seems the banker bet in Race 8, a Pinnacle Stakes over 1000m.

With regular rider Richard Fourie unavailable, Aldo Domeyer has been tasked with the ride.

Kasimir is aiming for a twelfth career win and if successful, the stakes earned tomorrow will take his total tally to over R4-million.

Punters should note that today’s action is from Greyville as the usual Friday Fairview meeting had to be cancelled to an outbreak of Covid among role-players in the Eastern Cape.

There is also a nine-race meeting at Turffontein tomorrow while Sunday’s racing is at Scottsville in Pi- etermaritzburgh.
