Sowetan

Really, how can I rape a woman I married?

-

I wish to propose that the Sowetan include a column titled “Let’s talk about law.” This will allow lawyers and commentators to discuss some of the laws that seem to be unjust and irrational. There are laws that seem to create lawlessness.

When a parent pinches his/her children, it is deemed to be assault.

Now, here is a man who married his lover so as to have a licence to officially have sexual intercourse with her. But if he has sex with her without consent, it is deemed to be rape instead of common assault as it was in the past.

Now if a married woman with children opens a charge of rape against her husband, the whole community will label that man a rapist. Madness.
