Music producer Sello “Chicco” Twala says he visited Senzo Meyiwa’s mother over the weekend to offer her support.

Yesterday, journalist Mzilikazi Wa Afrika alluded that a person of interest in the murder trial had visited the Meyiwa family in Umlazi, Durban, and promised Meyiwa’s mother “heaven and earth”.

Twala, whose son Longwe Twala was one of the people present when Meyiwa was killed, confirmed his visit to former Bafana’s mom Ntombifuthi. “I have been in contact with Senzo’s mom for a long time. It is not a new thing. It is

not the first time that me and her communicated.

“We communicate and there is nothing wrong with that. We are not talking about the case that is going on.

“She is a parent and I visit her to speak to her as a parent.

I went to her to offer support. She is not my enemy and I am not her enemy... I am also going to see her again next week. Even when I am in Durban, I will just go and see her. We are very close.

“I was there to give her support and tell her that justice will be served. I told her she must not worry too much.

“The passing of Senzo affected her a lot because he was a breadwinner. I told her that people like myself and all South Africans will support her and it is not like she is on her own now that Senzo is not around,” Twala said.

Twala has been quoted before saying Longwe and all others who were in the house know who killed Meyiwa.

Meyiwa’s sister Zama said Twala met her mother on Saturday while she was away at a funeral but she has yet to discuss what they spoke about.

“I think my mother was still waiting to inform us all as her children about the discussions they had,” Zama said.

Meyiwa was killed at his then girlfriend Kelly Khumalo’s family home in Vosloorus on October 26 2014.

The accused – Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Maphisa and Sifisokuhle Nkani Ntuli – face charges of murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, possession of firearms without a licence and possession of ammunition.

Defence lawyers have argued in court that the gun that killed Meyiwa was brought into the house by Longwe.
