Netherland­s striker Memphis Depay has declared himself fit for the World Cup, alleviatin­g Dutch fears he might miss the tournament. But he is not certain to start in their first game on Monday. Depay hurt a hamstring playing for the Dutch against Poland in September and his recovery has taken longer than expected.

Argentina’s 26-man squad could change before their World Cup opener as some players are not fully fit. Coach Lionel Scaloni said defender Cristian Romero and forwards Nicolas Gonzalez, Alejandro Gomez and Paulo Dybala were left out for Argentina’s last warm-up match in Abu Dhabi, with all four recovering after feeling “some discomfort”.

Senegal have been sending out mixed messages about whether Sadio Mane will play in their World Cup opener against the Netherland­s. He is in Germany undergoing treatment and coach Aliou Cisse said he might arrive the day before the match, but federation officials told local media he would miss the first game.
