Acussed number five, Sifisokuhle Nkani Ntuli, is represented by Adv Zandile Mshololo.

Ramosepele told Maumela that the accused’s parents had asked him to represent them. Thobane said he was not aware of the “new development’’ and would like to consult with his clients.

A seemingly upset Maumela asked Ramosepele why he had not informed the court much earlier that he would be taking over as the lawyer for accused one and two.

Maumela adjourned the matter for a short break so that Thobane could consult with his clients.

A new witness was expected to take the stand yesterday but due to the unexpected turn of events, the trial was postponed to May next year.

State witness Tumelo Madlala concluded his testimony on Friday.

Madlala was one of the people present when Meyiwa was shot and killed at his girlfriend Kelly Khumalo’s family house in Vosloorus on the East Rand on October 26 2014.

The accused face charges of premeditated murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, possession of firearms without a licence and possession of ammunition. They have pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
