England captain Harry Kane has been cleared to continue at World Cup following a scan to his right ankle. Tests on Wednesday showed that Kane, whose recovery has been assisted in Qatar by his long-term personal physio, has escaped serious damage to the joint and been cleared to train. Manager Gareth Southgate must now decide whether to include him in the starting XI for tonight’s game versus the USA.

Memphis Depay came off the bench after a protracted hamstring problem to play for the Netherland­s on Monday and it looks likely he will start tonight against Ecuador, allowing the Dutch to be at full strength for the game.

Iran’s first-choice goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand, who suffered concussion in their defeat against England, will likely not play today against Wales. He has been told not to train for six days after being replaced in their 6-2 loss to the English.

Denmark defensive midfielder Thomas Delaney has been ruled out of the World Cup due to a knee injury sustained in the goalless draw with Tunisia in their opening Group D match. Delaney will be out of action for about four weeks.

Belgium’s Romelu Lukaku remains an injury doubt and will not play against Morocco this weekend, but the objective is to have him available for the last group game against Croatia on Thursday. Belgium’s record goal-scorer has made two substitute appearance­s in the last four months at club level as he struggles with a hamstring injury.
