Seal rescued at Tergniet
Meet Charlie, the Antarctic fur seal. He was rescued from the beach at Tergniet by the Stranded Marine Animal Rescue Team (S.M.A.R.T.) on 15 July.
He was taken to Bayworld in Port Elizabeth the next day and reports from Bayworld are that he is eating fish and progressing well. S.M.A.R.T. committee member and volunteer Val Marsh said: “It’s truly a wonder that such a young seal swam so far and now has a chance to survive.”
