NEW PROJECT CONFIRMED

KAMALHASSA­N revealed the details of his next film, Uthama

Villain , at the IIFA Awards last week. It will be directed by his close friend Ramesh Aravind and produced by N Lingusamy under the Thirupathi Brothers banner. It was initially speculated that it would be scored, for the first time, by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Kamalhassa­n is currently working on Vishwaroop­am 2.

GOING SOLO

STUDIO Green’s Surya launched his own production company, 2D Entertainm­ent (a name inspired by his son Dev and daughter Diya), earlier this year. His banner co-produced Singam 2, which opened in South Africa this weekend. Surya also plans to encourage new talent by working with rising writers and directors.

CASH-STRAPPED?

THERE is a widespread concern regarding the manner in which Studio Green has been dropping major projects.

A fortnight ago, it was announced that Suseendran’s

Aadhalal Kadhal Seiveer had been taken over by Red Giant Movies. The week before, it emerged that Shiva’s Sonnaa Puriyaadhu will now be produced by Rama Narayanan. No reasons have been given, but there is speculatio­n that the company is cash-strapped.

DEBUT

PONMAALAI Pozhudhu will mark the acting debut of Aadhav

Kannadasan, grandson of the late Kannadasan. Gayathri of Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha

Kaanom fame will play the female lead. The film, directed by AC Durai, is based on real events.

ROMANTIC COMEDY IN THE PIPELINE

SIVAKARTHI­GEYAN plays the male lead in AR Murugadhaa­s’s next production, Maan Karate. Hansika plays the female lead in this romantic comedy featuring music by Anirudh Ravichande­r.

TITLE ROLE

SANTHAANAM plays the lead role in the forthcomin­g Vallavanuk­ku

Pullum Aayudham, to be directed by Srinath of Muthirai fame. It will feature music by Anirudh Ravichande­r.
