YEH Jawaani Hai Deewani has struck gold at the box office and has now officially become the third-biggest hit of Indian cinema behind 3 Idiots and Ek Tha Tiger. Imtiyaaz Ali, who made Rockstar, is planning to sign Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone for his next movie. Ali is now working on Highway with Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda.
RISING STAR
ARJUN Kapoor has signed for the short movie Finding Fanny Fernandes. The film will also star Deepika Padukone, Dimple Kapadia and Naseerudin Shah. It will be directed by Homi Adajania and produced by Saif Ali Khan, the team that made Cocktail . Kapoor’s next release will be Gunday with Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra.
UNHAPPY
IN an open letter to the media, Katrina Kaif has voiced her unhappiness about the leaking of her holiday pictures to the public. In the pictures, she is with actor Ranbir Kapoor. The actress wrote: “I am writing this to say that I feel most upset and distressed at my pictures being published in a film magazine. The pictures were taken while I was on holiday by someone who, in an act of cowardice, shot them without permission and used them for commercial gain. There is a breed of journalists who prey on celebrities in the worst possible manner, crossing all lines of privacy and decency. Running these pictures shows support for this school of journalism. I request all media running these pictures to please refrain from doing so. I have a wonderful relationship with the media and have been accessible at all times. There is no reason for this furtive and invasive behaviour.”
NEW VENTURE
ALTHOUGH Heroine has not won him the same accolades as his previous movies, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar is gearing up for his next release. Titled Marr Jaawaa, Bhandarkar will for the first time venture into the genre of a musical love story. His other movies include Fashion and Chandini Bar.
SA RELEASE
LOCAL distributor Kavin Media has released Thalaivaa, a film starring Vijay, Amala Paul and Sathyaraj. It is directed by AL Vijay, the director of Madrassapattinam , Deiva Thirumagall and Thaandavam, and features music by GV Prakash. Thalaivaa follows the successful release of Singam 2 a month ago, a film that features scenes filmed on location in Durban and stars Surya, Anushka Shetty and Hansika Motwani.

LEAD ROLE
AGS Entertainment has confirmed that it will be producing the next film of KV Anand ( Maatraan, Ko and Ayan), which will star Dhanush in the lead role. For the first time, Harris Jayaraj will score the music for a movie featuring Dhanush.
FALSE REPORTS
A TWEET by Bharath has cooled down recent rumours that the young actor is soon to wed actress Shammu ( Kanchivaram ). Websites and the print media widely reported an imminent wedding, but Bharath denied the reports, saying marriage was certainly not on the cards this year and that the media reports were false.
MOVING AHEAD
MUSIC composer Vijay Anthony, who made a successful acting debut in the film Naan, is completing work on his second film, Salim. The movie is directed by Nirmal Kumar and will feature Aksha Pardasany. It is scheduled for release in December. Anthony will soon commence work on his third film, Thirudan.
WEDDING BELLS
KADHIR, who has thus far directed only love stories such as Kaadhal Dhesam, Idhayam, Kaadhalar Dhinam and Kaadhal Virus, is to marry Shanthini Devi on September 2 in Madurai. A grand reception has been planned for September 4.
