My Kind of Holiday

- STACEY NORMAN Stacey Norman is a presenter on KFM

Where did you spend your last holiday?

Hermanus. What was the best thing you did while there? Found a secluded, private beach — complete with beach bar. Spent literally all day just lazing about.

Your favourite city, and why? Cape Town! It’s my home town and what’s not to love? The people, the cultures, the nightlife, the fashion. So cosmopolitan and you never get bored.

What must a first-time visitor see there? The obvious answer is Table Mountain, but the winelands are a must. Local produce in the most stunning surroundings.

What should they not bother with? That’s really subjective. Cape Town’s really eclectic — so whatever you’re into, you’ll find. Unless you’re into dreary, brown surroundings, then don’t bother. That What trip was to your Hermanus. best holiday, We had ever? all four seasons during our stay and it feels just far enough to say you’ve been away while still being close enough that you don’t spend a day just trying Which to is get the worst there. hotel you have stayed in? A well-known hotel in Joburg. A pot of coffee was R60. I tried to really savour it. What given on is the holiday? best thing you have been

A free night. Who doesn’t love free stuff? Who would be your fantasy holiday companion and why? Jennifer Lopez. Why? Because I love her and, based on 60% of her music videos, she looks like she knows her way around a beach. Plus, I’m betting she’d get loads of free cake. And coffee.

Your favourite restaurant, anywhere? La Vierge in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley; Laborie in Stellenbosch; and Chef Pon’s in the CBD. If I could have a combination of all three, I’d be stoked. One you die? place you want to see before

New York.

What do you avoid on holiday? Skipping breakfast. It makes a heavy lunch seem like a good idea, which leaves not much room for dinner. And what’s the point if you can’t eat, right? One travel destination you would call “never again”?

That hotel in Johannesburg.
