BACKGROUND

the original Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, which was a hit at the box office, Milan Luthria directed the challenging tale of a fading superstar in The Dirty Picture . The movie became a runaway success, earned Luthria tons of critical acclaim and bagged many awards. The talented director teams up again with prolific producer Ekta Kapoor for another gangster tale in the dark alleys of Mumbai. ruling the streets of Mumbai — a fearless and affluent don named Shohaib (Akshay Kumar). He comes across a young street kid named Aslam (Imran Khan), who has the courage and attitude to become his sidekick. Shohaib raises Aslam to become street smart and wicked. However, their friendship and loyalty are tested 12 years later with the arrival of the beautiful and talkative Jasmine (Sonakshi Sinha). PERFORMANCES

is no doubt that Kumar is the right choice for this role. He is comfortable and entertaining as the wicked don and delivers another charismatic performance. It is initially an adjustment to see chocolate-boy hero Khan cast as a gangster, but he springs a pleasant surprise with an extremely noteworthy performance that adds another memorable role to his short career. Khan is a sincere actor who also looks good with Sinha. As the woman caught up in the drama, she is beautiful and innocent in every frame and delivers her role with ease, especially when she reflects her turmoil. Sonali Bendre is sadly wasted in a minuscule role. DIRECTION

knows how to make entertaining movies. Although he retains the gangster clashes and fierce moments, he relies heavily on matters of the heart to ignite the drama. The first half is decent, although without any major impact; everything unfolds rapidly in the second half. MUSIC is a nice soundtrack featuring the very impressive Tayyab Ali and Yeh Tune Kya Kiya.
