Lethal Weapon (M-Net Movies Action, Channel 106, Saturday, 20:00)

Here’s a great blast from the past: M-Net has lined up all four of the films in this series. In the first, made in 1987, an ageing homicide detective, Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover), is forced to work with a brash narcotics officer, Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson, pictured), after the suspicious “suicide” of a young woman.

Flowers Uncut with Jeff Leatham (Home, Channel 176, Monday, 19:00)

In the first episode of this series, florist Jeff Leatham and his partner Matt must take on two events on the same day. The first task is to create an extravagant floral design for the Tiffany’s store on Fifth Avenue in New York. At the same time, they must do arrangements for an elite house party. It’s a glimpse of how gruelling the job can be.

Top Chef: Series 10 (M-Net Series, Channel 114, Tuesday, 21:30)

The format of this show has not changed very much over the years, but the contestants make it unique and interesting. It’s fascinating to see how they approach the dishes they must create, but the real fun lies in the personalities who are forced to live together, where there can be both camaraderie and genuine aggression.

Dr Seuss’s Horton Hears a Who (e.tv, Channel 194, Friday, 14:30)

This animated family comedy is the third book by children’s author Dr Seuss to be turned into a feature film, and the second of those to star Jim Carrey in a leading role. Carey plays a tuskless elephant named Horton, who hears voices coming from a tiny speck of dust. It turns out that the tiny speck is home to a civilisation of microscopic beings called Whos, who need Horton’s help to find a home. It’s got more than a few good laughs thanks to the big-hitter comedian voice cast, which also includes Steve Carell, Carol

Burnett and Amy Poehler.

Blood River (Nat Geo: Wild, Channel 182, Tuesday, 18:00)

The huge migrations that occur on the African continent are long, arduous and sometime dangerous. For centuries, the wildebeests of Tanzania have migrated across the Mara River, but lurking deep within the river are vicious crocodiles, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike.
