Speculation flares as new flame helps out
FOREIGN media have zoomed in on a romance with a striking paramedic student, Leah Skye Malan, fuelling speculation that Oscar Pistorius may have found love again.
The UK’s Daily Mail newspaper reported that the pair met while on holiday in Mozambique.
The 19-year-old student is said to have been on a number of dates with Pistorius — who has been keeping a low profile since the killing of his model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, last year.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “They both seem really into each other. She’s helped support him through this difficult time and has introduced him to all her family. “They have embraced him.” Pistorius has also reportedly visited Malan’s family farmhouse near Potchefstroom, North West.
The double amputee is said to use disguises on their dates, but an onlooker told The Sun: “It was hard not to spot him. They seemed cosy.”
In the past, the 27-year-old athlete has had a complex love life and has been spotted on the arm of a string of good-looking blondes.
At least one ex, part-time model Samantha Taylor, whom the athlete dated in 2012, was not very impressed with what she billed as his wandering eye.
Taylor and Pistorius declared their love for one another during a lifestyle TV show interview in September 2012, filmed in the Seychelles.
But just two months later, in November, Pistorius was spotted at the South African Sports Awards with a new flame, Steenkamp.
When it became clear that Pistorius and Steenkamp were dating, Taylor lashed out: “Oscar has such a way with women. She’s probably not the only one he’s got.”
She added later: “Oscar is certainly not what people think he is.”
His first girlfriend was his high school sweetheart, Vicky Miles.
Pistorius has also been romantically linked to Russian-born supermodel Anastassia Khozissova and Jenna Edkins, who last year claimed that they had had a fling “on and off” for about five years.
