BYTES Document Solutions has appointed Koos Ligtenberg strategic planning executive.

Ligtenberg has a long history with the company — he first became part of the team in 2003 when he launched the Western Cape-based Xerox concession­aire Oxbow.

In 2012, he was appointed Bytes’s regional manager in the Western Cape — a position he will retain alongside his new role.

Before settling in South Africa, Ligtenberg was the co-owner of a business in the Netherland­s.

BP has appointed Daniel Odogwu CEO of its Southern African business.

Odogwu joined BP in 1989 and since then has held a number of roles based in the UK, Belgium, South Africa, the Netherland­s and Germany.

These positions have included national retail sales manager for South Africa, retail portfolio manager for Western Europe and performanc­e planning and business developmen­t manager for retail Europe.

Before his role as CEO, he was the operations director for Poland, the Netherland­s, Luxembourg, Austria and Switzerlan­d.

His appointmen­t follows the sudden death of BP Southern Africa’s CEO, Gerard Derbesy, a few months ago.

STARCOM MediaVest Group (SMG) has announced that its parent company, Publicis Groupe, has acquired digital consultanc­y Lighthouse Digital and appointed Aaron van Schaik its CEO. The company will be rebranded as SMG Lighthouse. “SMG has a solid reputation in Africa and around the world and it’s a pleasure to be joining the SMG family,” said Van Schaik.

Lighthouse Digital was founded in 2009 by Steven Waidelich and Van Schaik as a specialist digital media agency.

GERALD Mahinda has been appointed managing director for sub-Saharan Africa by Kellogg Asia Pacific.

Mahinda joins Kellogg from Diageo, where he spent 14 years in leadership roles.

He has developed his career in Africa in various senior executive leadership roles that have spanned 20 countries. Companies he has worked for include AIG and Standard Chartered, and he was MD of East African Breweries, Brandhouse in South Africa and, until recently, Diageo Africa Spirits Transforma­tion.
