Bambi brings on 50 shades of blushing
Pieter-Dirk Uys’s latest has them rolling in the aisles
SAUCY secrets and titillating tales of the life of a stripper were revealed on Wednesday night when Bambi Kellermann took to the stage to educate her audience in the ways of the world.
Kellermann, entertainer Pieter-Dirk Uys’s alter ego and sister of the fabulous Evita Bezuidenhout, had the audience rolling in the aisles with her latest offering, 50 Shades of Bambi, at the Theatre on the Square, Sandton City. The audience of about 200 were a jolly bunch who were in the mood for a few laughs and a drink or two.
When the lights went out, musical director Godfrey Johnson sat at the piano and complemented Kellermann’s performance as she told the story of her life and dished out pearls of wisdom.
Kellermann, who was born in the Orange Free State in 1956, left when she was a young woman so “I wouldn’t have to die a virgin in Bethlehem”. And so her adventure began.
Kellermann is definitely the chalk to Bezuidenhout’s cheese — she said she and Bezuidenhout did not get along.
Uys is a seasoned entertainer and his performance was top-class.
The audience could not hold back their shrieks of laughter.
Kellermann pulled out all the stops and went into the sordid details of her life as a stripper and sex worker and the lessons she learnt along the way.
I am certain many in the audience left the show a lot wiser.
It is fascinating how a man can make a living pretending to be woman — but Uys has done it.
50 Shades of Bambi, on until March 16, is worth watching even though it left many patrons blushing 50 shades darker.
