Too old to argue

BUT it is not just the anti-transformation rightwing that our talkative minister fears. The University of the Witwatersrand and eNews Channel Africa had billed Mbalula as one of the participants in an election debate on youth issues this past Thursday.

The ANC bussed in scores of supporters whose job was to cheer him on as he fought it out with leaders of the Democratic Alliance and Economic Freedom Fighters.

His EFF opponent turned out to be a former protégé — Floyd Shivambu — while the DA Youth was represented by the cheeky young Mbali Ntuli.

Arguing that Shivambu and Ntuli should debate with leaders in their own age group, Mbalula once again refused to go on air — leaving the ANC represented by a very inarticulate cheerleader, Bonisile Modise.
