But, he said, with the station’s new chain of command in place the improvements were already noticeable.

“Community members used to say to us that they didn’t call the police when drug-related crimes were being committed or when they saw something, because they were too scared. They didn’t know which of the police officers they could trust and who was in with the drug dealers. Lately, there have been some positive changes.”

Logan Chetty of the Chatsworth Community Policing Forum was one of the speakers at the event.

He said he was pleased to hear that the minister had heard the community’s cries.
