And now, a big hand for Durban
AS an entertainer, I am proud of the Durban audiences for supporting home-grown entertainment.
This past weekend is proof that Durbanites are digging into their pockets for local acts.
There were three shows on — the comedy Lollipop Lane at the iZulu Theatre at Sibaya casino, The Dingalings’ stand-up comedy act at the Suncoast Supernova and comedian Muthu Murugan’s show at The Zone— and these productions played to packed houses over three nights.
Two weeks ago, the show Keeping Up with the Koopasamys played to capacity crowds over four nights.
This public support is exactly what performing artists need. I hope this kind of relationship between patrons of the arts and performers continues.
I am proud to be a Durbanite, and to all performing artists out there: take full advantage of this situation and get your productions staged.
Durban is the place to be. — Mervyn Pillay, by e-mail
