Suspects held after singer’s brother killed

TWO suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of the brother of award-winning singer Zahara, Eastern Cape police said yesterday.

The Afro-pop star’s younger brother, Mbuyiseli Mkutukana, 25, and a friend, Thanduxolo Zumani, 35, were found dead with multiple gunshot wounds on the banks of a river in Next Camp, outside of East London, on Sunday last week.

Investigators said the men allegedly received a call to meet someone near the spot where their bodies were found.

Yesterday police spokesman Stephen Marais said: “The motive for the killings has not yet been established.” — Simpiwe Piliso
