Edgy moment

-

KOREAN artist Jun Ahn doesn’t suffer from vertigo at all, and she’s making the best of her good fortune.

Jun has made her name by gazing down on cityscapes from skyscraper rooftops in New York, Hong Kong and Seoul and documenting her peculiar habit. Sometimes she photographs her perched figure from above — as in this shot, taken over a Hong Kong canyon — and sometimes she shoots from her own point of view, with her legs dangling into the void.

It often takes months to get permission to visit the rooftops she wants to shoot. “It’s a kind of performance without an audience,” she says. When she gets bored with inner-city precipices, she likes to relax on cliffedges in Australia and Japan.
