PARIS, Saturday — A 17-year-old boy has given birth to a baby here. The still-born child, weighing 3lb. 15oz, was removed from the boy’s body in an operation in a Paris hospital. The boy who gave birth, JeanJacques Laurent, who lives with his mother in Rue Gutenberg, Paris, was reported to be “doing well”.

The baby, believed to be Jean-Jacques’s twin brother, was nine inches long. He had bones, intestines, hair and even a tooth.

Instead of being born normally with Jean-Jacques, the foetus of his twin grew up inside his lung.

And there it remained for 17 years, still developing slowly, until a few weeks ago Jean-Jacques complained of a pain in his chest — and the amazing truth was revealed. — April 19 1964
