Getting rich off the poor

-

I KNOW all about medical aid costs such as reported in “Cash-shy consumers cut back medical aid” (April 13). I retired at the end of 2012 and the medical aid contributions were R6 000 a month, of which the company paid half. I had to downgrade and lost a lot of benefits as I could not afford the full amount. You would think the people who run these schemes would have a special deal for retirees who have been with them for so long, but they are too greedy and fill their own pockets.

Take a look at the article “Discovery’s Gore snaps up R103m New York pad” (April 13) and you see Adrian Gore of Discovery can spend millions on property while the elderly and poor suffer. When these schemes close because no one can afford them any more, these greedy people won’t care because they have enough money.

Gore and all the others who have got rich off the poor will have to answer for their greed on Judgment Day. — Peter Grant, Durban
