Pilger joins list of disillusioned
THE article by Pilger highlights the political direction of post-colonial Africa: incompetence, corruption and, tragically, the abuse of human rights followed its emancipation.
He has added his voice to the “litany of the disillusioned”, which includes Richard Calland, Ben Turok, Ronnie Kasrils, Pallo Jordan, Trevor Manuel and Jay Naidoo, who condemn the incompetence of the Jacob Zuma administration and the corruption that is symbolised by the Nkandla compound.
How could they have naively believed South Africa would not follow a similar route? Joe Slovo warned against the fat cats enriching themselves and within 20 years that is exactly what has taken place.
