Photos must capture the essence of a destinatio­n, natural or cultural, and/or its buildings and people. The year’s overall winner, to be announced in December, will win photograph­ic gear worth R100 000, with a Canon EOS 5D Mark III, a 24-105mm L lens kit, an EF 70-200mm f2.8 L IS USM Mark II lens and an EF 8-15mm f4.0 L fish-eye USM lens.

The first runner-up will win gear worth R65 000, featuring an EOS 6D and 24-70mm f4 L lens kit, and an EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS USM lens. The second runner-up will win gear worth R46 000, featuring an EOS 70D body and 18-135mm IS STM kit, and an EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 L IS USM lens. Photos of free-roaming wildlife from across the world may be entered. The overall winner, to be announced in December, will win a seven-day luxury safari for two people worth R120 000 to photograph the wildlife of Kenya’s Masai Mara during migration season, and stay at the Wild Eye Mara camp.

The first runner-up will win a seven-day luxury safari for one person worth R60 000 to photograph the Masai Mara during migration season, while the second runner-up will win a five-day luxury safari worth R30 000 to photograph the wildlife of the Chobe River. The second runner-up will stay in five-star lodge and houseboat accommodat­ion, including three nights on the Ichobezi River Lodge houseboat, Chobe National Park, and one night at Ichingo Chobe River Lodge, Impalila Island, Namibia. Each safari is an all-expenses-paid package courtesy of Wild Eye Safaris ( www.wild-eye.co.za ) and will be guided by a profession­al wildlife photograph­er.
