ARABELLA COUNTRY ESTATE

The five-star Arabella Country Hotel overlooks the Bot River Lagoon and Palmiet mountains, with a waterfall feature and wide pool at the back. Its golf course was voted No 1 in the Western Cape and No 5 in South Africa by Golf Digest Magazine this month. As non-golfers, we appreciated the opulent rooms and spa. We toured the estate and admired its indigenous fynbos — which falls within a biodiversity “hotspot” (UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee) — and earthcoloured houses. The estate has 236 properties situated on 113ha.

Keeton and Schwankhart were guests of Arabella Country Hotel and Spa.
