Behati’s pop-star groom has dad’s blessing

- SUTHENTIRA GOVENDER

NAMIBIAN dominee (minister) Boet Prinsloo is as enamoured of his pop-star future son-inlaw Adam Levine as is his Victoria’s Secret model daughter Behati.

The statuesque South Africa-born model is set to sashay down the aisle on the arm of her proud father when she marries the Grammy awardwinning Maroon 5 frontman in Mexico next month.

Prinsloo, a church minister who runs a guesthouse with his wife, Magda, in Grootfontein, Namibia, said they were ecstatic about the impending nuptials of their 24-yearold daughter.

He confirmed: “Yes, I will walk her down the aisle.”

He said he was most charmed by Levine’s humility.

“I am very proud of him. I like the way he treats his friends and those working for him,” said Prinsloo, who met the star for the first time in August last year.

He said he and his wife were looking forward to the wedding.

“We are feeling good [about it].”

Not a man of many words, he said he had gained a “very positive” impression of his future son-in-law.

Speculation was rife that the couple would marry in South Africa, but celebrity gossip site PerezHilton.com revealed this week that the lavish wedding was due to take place in Mexico next month.

The website reported that an insider close to the couple disclosed that the “intimate nuptials” would take place on July 19 at the luxurious Hotel El Ganzo in Los Cabos.

A rehearsal dinner is expected to precede the main event.

Although the 34-yearold rocker had not met Prinsloo’s parents before popping the question, he ensured that he received their blessing over the phone last year.

Prinsloo said at the time that he had the “greatest respect” for Levine after he sought their approval.

“We talked to each other and he presented himself in such a way to me that I [now] appreciate him for that,” he reportedly said.

The Prinsloos later flew to the US to meet Levine and to celebrate their only child’s good news — after he had proposed to her in oldschool style by going down on one knee and asking for her hand in marriage.

Behati and Levine started dating in 2012, but they split up last year after he was seen frolicking on a Mexican beach with another Victoria’s Secret model, Nina Adgal.

The couple reunited shortly thereafter, however.

Behati was talentspotted by Storm Model Management’s founder, Sarah Doukas, while she was on holiday in Cape Town at the age of 16.

Since then, she has modelled for Chanel, Prada, Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu. She has also graced the covers of magazines such as Vogue, Elle and GQ.

In 2009, she became a Victoria’s Secret Angel (the top lingerie model), along with another South African model, Candice Swanepoel.

Prinsloo said his daughter did not aspire to be a model when she was younger.

“She had thoughts of becoming a chartered accountant, or later she had the idea of becoming a microbiologist.”
