MasterChef winner takes to the airwaves
THE queen of the kitchen has a new quest. MasterChef South Africa 2013 winner Kamini Pather has joined Cape Town-based radio station Heart 104.9FM.
Pather said she was loving the opportunity to talk about not only food but fashion, fitness and everything in between. She will be on air for a year on Kim Cloete’s show every weekday — Pather’s 30-minute segment is called My Favourite Things and is on from 10.40am.
“Capetonians are taking to the show positively and I am enjoying being on Heart FM and working with a team who have already welcomed me as part of the family.
“While this is not my first time on radio — I have done a food show on Good Hope FM — I am happy to talk about other things that interest me. Food is not my only passion and I want to talk about other things that fascinate me as well.”
Pather said she was also working on her new television show, Girl Eat World. The pilot episode will be shot in Johannesburg in two weeks’ time. She has also done cooking segments on lifestyle shows Eastern Mosaic and Top Billing.
Pather, 29, a BCom graduate, food blogger-writer and photographer, shot to fame when she won MasterChef South Africa and has since been taking the food industry by storm.
Heart 104.9FM managing director Gary Petersen said listeners were “hungry” for on-trend lifestyle features and Pather’s background was perfectly suited to enhance the station’s on-air product even more.
