VANI Chetty has joined global law firm Baker & McKenzie’s South African office as partner. She joins from her own firm, Vani Chetty Competition Law.
Chetty focuses on transactional and advisory competition law issues for a variety of local and international clients in commercial property, financial services, construction, chemicals and the corporate sector.
PROFESSOR Nithaya Chetty has been appointed deputy CEO: astronomy by the National Research Foundation with effect from October 1.
Chetty is a member of the Academy of Science of South Africa and an honorary member of the South African Institute of Physics.
Chetty is full professor of physics at the University of Pretoria and has been on secondment on a part-time basis to the foundation in the position of group executive: astronomy since 2011.
JERRY Mpufane, the CEO of The Jupiter Drawing Room, will join M&C Saatchi Abel Group South Africa to partner Gauteng CEO Jacques Burger in leading the company.
Burger said: “I’ve been looking for the perfect business partner to work [with] . . . in delivering a world-class offering to our clients and providing our people with an inspiring work environment.
“I have not met anyone more perfectly suited to this role than Jerry.”
THE South African Insurance Association has promoted Lelo Ntshalintshali to general manager: stakeholder relations and communications.
Ntshalintshali joined the SAIA in 2011 as stakeholder relations manager.
She has a BA from the University of Swaziland, a post-graduate diploma in management from Wits Business School and a BA honours from the University of the Witwatersrand and is completing her master’s degree.
