Book Joining forces for the sake of humankind
Body, mind and soul used to combat illness
HUSBAND and wife medics Breminand and Nervashnee Maharaj have written a simple guide to achieving health and happiness by addressing matters of the soul. Breminand is a pharmacology professor and Nervashnee a homeopath and medical facilitator at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. They spoke to
about their book, Breminand Maharaj: For many years, we have been interested in how we could improve the quality of life of human beings in ways that went beyond our professions. We were aware that everyone wishes to enjoy good health and to be happy. As we gathered knowledge, we discovered that the soul plays an important role in creating and maintaining health and happiness. Nervashnee Maharaj: I was introduced to the practice of the art of True Light by a friend who assisted at the Health Awareness Clinic where I offered voluntary service. The Sukyo Mahikari organisation enables people to practise the art of True Light and understand the principles and laws of the universe more deeply. I decided to practice the art of True Light and was fascinated by the potential of this practice to improve the quality of life of human beings. My husband was informed of this practice by the aunt of one of his medical students. After he commenced radiating this positive energy, which is called True Light, he observed many improvements in the wellbeing of students, colleagues, patients and members of society and decided to Breminand Maharaj: We are able to embrace both science and spirituality because we see them as two ends of the same spectrum, called life, that can coexist and work harmoniously to improve the human condition. Our experience has confirmed this to us. Science exists to help improve the lives of humankind and spirituality exists to help improve the lives of humankind. So why do we not combine them? It is the antagonistic view of human beings towards apparent opposites that has caused us great hardship, unhappiness and ill-health. The crises that humankind faces are unprecedented. Therefore, we need to harness and combine every resource available to help us overcome these crises. Our book explains this point.
