Two arrested after body of boy, 5, found mutilated
THE badly decomposed and mutilated body of a missing child was found on Friday morning outside Sandfontein near Brits in the North West.
Community members identified two suspects who had been seen with the child just before his parents reported his disappearance on Tuesday.
The five-year-old boy and the suspects lived in the Wawiel informal settlement.
Police spokesman Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said the two suspects led police to the scene.
“Preliminary investigation has revealed that the body was found with both feet and hands tied with a string and private parts missing. The motive of the killing is unknown at this stage and investigations into the matter continue,” he said.
The two men, Bornfast Sihlangu, 31, and a 17year-old, appeared in the Brits Magistrate’s Court. Mokgwabone said the two men were remanded in custody until tomorrow for a bail application.
