NORMAN Mbazima has been appointed deputy chairman of the Anglo American South Africa board. Kumba Iron Ore said the appointment related to changes to its leadership structure in South Africa following a governance review.
Mbazima is CEO of Kumba. He will fulfil the fiduciary duties of the Anglo American South Africa board while leading the Kumba business.
The reorganisation illustrated a commitment to a responsible, sustainable and competitive business in South Africa, the company said. TCL Communication has appointed Nicolas Zibell president of international business and Alain Pakiry, who will report to Zibell, general manager of Europe.
The cellphone manufacturer markets its products under the Alcatel OneTouch and TCL brands.
Zibell and Pakiry are not based in South Africa but are responsible for the Americas, Europe, Middle East and Africa, which includes South Africa.
Zibell is a graduate of EMLYON and has a master’s from ESADE Business School.
He said: “I am pleased to share the experience I’ve acquired in markets on the other side of the Atlantic to meet our objective: increasing group sales in all markets, including Europe.”
Pakiry is a graduate of EMLYON and IMD Lausanne, and has a master’s in sociology from the University of Kent.
He brings more than 20 years of international experience with major consumer electronics brands to the company.
He said: “I’m very excited to join Alcatel OneTouch with its major strengths in research and development and production capacity.” CHRIS Bosman has been appointed general manager at Serco in Cape Town. The company specialises in the design and manufacture of insulated and dry freight fibreglass truck bodies and trailers.
Before joining Serco, Bosman worked in the vehicle safety engineering division at Duys Component Manufacturers in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal.
Bosman said: “I am delighted to be working at Serco as it is the market leader in truck bodies and trailers. The position available was a perfect match for my requirements and experience.”
