PRESCIENT Investment Management has appointed Raphael Nkomo chief investment officer.
The incumbent, Eldria Fraser, who has been with the company for 10 years, will continue as a director, working on key projects for the Prescient Group.
Nkomo will focus on investments, the investment team, performance and research.
He has almost 15 years of experience in institutional investment and wealth management in South Africa and the UK. He has gained extensive market experience across all asset classes.
Nkomo joins Prescient from Barclays Wealth Africa, where he was head of asset allocation and investment sales. WELCOME Tourism Services has appointed Alessandra Allemann sales and marketing director and Andrea Hand operations director.
Allemann has experience in operations, sales and marketing gained during her 10-year tenure at Welcome. For the past three years, she has been operations director.
Hand will take over the team of travel professionals from Allemann.
Before taking on the position in operations, Allemann was sales manager and established a loyal and committed client base in many markets around the world, Italy and Australia in particular.
Hand has had a 19-year career in the tourism industry. She has worked at Tourvest Destination Management, which owns Welcome Tourism Services, and currently heads one of the largest operations teams in Welcome.
The company said Hand’s people skills, strict work ethic, extensive operational experience and professionalism would take Welcome to new heights.

“I am delighted that we enjoy the depth of management that we do in our organisation to have been able to fill both these senior positions internally.” MODULA Mofolo has been appointed an executive at WDB Investment Holdings. She will be responsible for driving investments in medium-sized unlisted companies.
She is a former MD of Utho Capital fund managers and was previously an executive director of Musa Capital fund managers.
She also worked as the head of business development and investment management: investments at Khula Enterprise Finance (now the Small Enterprise Finance Agency).
She has an LLB degree and is completing her master’s in development finance through the Stellenbosch University Business School. Mofolo was admitted to the bar in 2000.
