HARMONY Gold Mining has appointed Peter Steenkamp its CEO, effective from January 1 next year. He will replace Graham Briggs, who is retiring.

Harmony chairman Patrice Motsepe said: “Peter worked for Harmony for four years and his last position at the company was chief operating officer. He has more than 30 years’ experience in the mining industry.”

Steenkamp has a BSc in engineerin­g (mining) and was most recently senior vice-president: mining, of Sasol Mining Proprietar­y Limited. PRIMEDIA has appointed Wanda Matandela CEO of SterKineko­r Theatres.

Matandela has worked in leadership positions in a range of industries, including fastmoving consumer goods, banking and mobile telecoms.

He joins Ster-Kinekor from Vodacom, where he has spent the past seven years. He was managing executive of the consumer division and later the enterprise division.

Matandela started his career at South African Breweries, has worked at Absa, and was CEO of the commercial vehicles division of WesBank. VINCENT Hoogduijn has been appointed CEO of Media24’s ecommerce division.

The Dutch-born executive has more than 15 years’ internatio­nal e-commerce experience, including the successful expansion of the Scandinavi­an electronic­s retailer Komplett to Ireland, Germany and the Netherland­s.

More recently, he launched and managed two start-ups in Spain and Italy for Buyagift.com.

He said: “Even though we see strong growth in South African e-commerce, it’s all still very relative. Absolute growth has still to come and we need to remain patient.” HONEYKOME, a division of the Ole! Media Group, has appointed John Parr executive producer of its video and TV production arm, VideoSwarm.

Parr, a producer, director and writer, has worked on features and documentar­ies produced on 35mm and 16mm film. His TV work includes dramas, documentar­ies and actuality, as well as sports programmin­g.

He has worked in more than 30 African countries, and most recently has concentrat­ed on reality programmin­g. He will be involved in the Ole! Media Group’s expansion of its digital footprint across the continent.
