GLOBAL law firm Baker & McKenzie has appointed Johan Botes to launch its employment practice in Johannesburg.
Botes joins the firm as a partner from Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr. He specialises in employment law and labour relations and advises clients on industrial relations, employment negotiations, labour dispute resolution and change management.
He also advises on organisational restructuring, and his experience spans a range of industries, including financial services, aviation and mining. THE Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone has appointed Gugulethu Zwane as executive manager in the office of the CEO unit.
She has experience in strategy, planning and performance at several state-owned entities and government departments. She has also worked in policy formulation, state legislative processes, stakeholder management, intergovernmental negotiations, project management and budget planning.
Before joining the zone, she led the strategy, planning and performance unit of the South African Forestry Company. HEINRICH von Wielligh has been appointed factory manager at the Corobrik Midrand Factory following the retirement of Ronnie de Gabriele in December 2015.
Von Wielligh began his career at Cullinan Brick in 1993 as a student studying ceramic technology. Cullinan Brick was bought by Corobrik, the factory at Clayville was renamed Corobrik Midrand Factory, and Von Wielligh joined Corobrik’s technical team as mine manager.
Von Wielligh has a diploma and a BTech in ceramics technology and a master’s in business leadership. BENJAMIN Manu is to become the regional manager, West Africa, of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
He will be based in Accra, Ghana, and will be responsible for the development and delivery of the institution’s strategy and operations in West Africa.
Manu has worked at Invest in Africa; with the UN Development Programme on climate change responses for the Ghanaian government, and for the British Council.
He joins a growing team in sub-Saharan Africa as the institution expands its offering in the region.
