HOW OFTEN DO YOU TRAVEL?

Someone recently told me that I’d spent 190 days last year staying in different hotel rooms — and that was all for cricket tours. In the past 12 months alone, I’ve visited Australia, New Zealand, the Caribbean (Antigua, Grenada and Barbados), Abu Dhabi and South Africa. But I really enjoy travelling — although I do miss my family. I also managed to cram in a five-day trip to New York with my girlfriend last year, which was brilliant. WHAT DO YOU NEED FOR A PERFECT HOLIDAY? Good company — ideally my girlfriend. Otherwise, some mates. WHERE DID YOU GO ON HOLIDAY AS A CHILD? We had relatives in Newcastle, so my family and I spent a lot of time walking along the coastal beaches in the surroundin­g countrysid­e, going for the odd bracing dip in the sea and visiting places such as Bamburgh Castle. And near Sheffield, my home town, we would often go walking in the Peak District. YOUR FIRST TRIP ABROAD? France, when I was about seven or eight. It was a camping holiday. I can’t remember a great deal about it, but I’ve seen a video of me pushing my brother into the pool. I also went to Spain and Italy. I was very lucky — I’ll never forget visiting Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii on that Italian holiday. ARE YOU AN ADVENTUROU­S TRAVELLER?
