According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the search for the curvy bottom is in top gear — someone in the world gets a butt implant every 30 minutes and the R30 000-a-pop phenomenon is taking off in South Africa.

Kwaito star Mshoza has lost track of the number of procedures she’s had in her quest to look like Minaj, her idol.

Mshoza (real name Nomasonto Maswanganyi) plans to keep a low profile until she has healed from her recent surgeries.

“I have had quite a bit of surgery, but people must not think I’m obsessed. I’m not changing my looks to please men or the public. I’m doing this to look beautiful for myself,” said Mshoza.

“Since high school I have wanted bigger boobs and a great bum. I’m actually so used to the pain of surgery.”

Mshoza said she had always admired Minaj’s voluptuous figure.

Entertainment journalist Sdu Gerasch is also eager to have her bottom enhanced through surgery.

“I would love to do it. I’m done with squats. I’ve had enough. I think I have been influenced by watching those music videos of Nicki Minaj. Look at Serena Williams, she has that perfect backside.

That’s what I want, a nice round bum,” said Gerasch. Johannesburg aesthetic doctor Anushka Reddy explained that surgeons either used butt implants or a transfer of fat to create the perfect behind. “The butt implant involves opening a slit into the skin and inserting a silicone or saline implant. “On the other hand, the Brazilian butt lift is a fat transfer process that involves taking fat from other parts of the body, purifying it and then reinjecting it back into the body,” said Reddy. Sandton plastic surgeon Chetan Patel said butt augmentation by fat grafting was “a commonamongages of black 30 request, and necessarilyeveryonedifferent“Nicki women40”. especiallyMinaj internetwishes. betweenthe is modelnot I picturesget the that of buttocks principleMiss Minaj,”— the but said curvesyes, Patel.in fit those of Dirk Cape LazarusTown plastichas also surgeonseen a “big increase” in demand among black women for butt augmentation. “Breast reduction and lifts are also common procedures among black women. I guess young black women are influenced by the Kim Kardashian and Nicki Minaj butts.” Jason Sive, director of First Health Finance, which finances cosmetic surgery procedures, said most of the company’s clients seeking butt augmentation procedures were black women in their mid-30s or 40s. Sive said most of his clients lived in Gauteng and the Western Cape and earned more than R25 000 a month. “The procedure costs around R30 000, but this depends on individual cases and pricing per practice.”
