Mariah will give Mzansi fans her all
“TO my African lambs, I cannot wait to see you and feel your love,” is the message singer Mariah Carey has for her fans as she makes her way to South Africa for her first concert here.
“I am bringing my all,” she told the Sunday Times from Estonia in Eastern Europe where she was performing as part of her Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour. Later this month, the bestselling female artist will be making stops in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg. She will perform four shows in six days.
Although this will be the hitmaker’s first concert tour of the country, Carey said she had been to South Africa several times “at the gracious invitation of Ms Oprah Winfrey, seeing her beautiful school”. Carey said she met Nelson Mandela twice. “South Africa holds a sacred place in my heart through these experiences and I am so excited to come share my music with my African lambily.”

more than 220 million records, said she would perform “classics” such as Always Be My Baby, My All and Heartbreaker — and has “a few surprises in store”, too.
The diva confirmed that she would hold meet-and-greet sessions with fans — a privilege that will set them back just over R7 000.
Joining her on the tour will be her four-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan. “They are so, so excited to come to the land of their favourite movies The Lion King and Madagascar,” she said.
As to her future plans, Carey said fans could expect “a few things” in future, promising not to keep them “waiting too much longer”. For now, she wants them to have a “fabulous” time at her concert. “I want them all up and out of their seats, singing, dancing and having a wonderful time!”
So, what does the singer surround herself with when on tour? “Lots of pillows and people I love.”
