GETTING THERE: The usual route is to fly into Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam. Then it is a 30minute charter flight to Mafia Island. From Mafia, guests hitch a boat ride to Thanda, taking about 45 minutes. Guests can also take a helicopter from Dar es Salaam straight to the island.
ACTIVITIES: Naturally most of the activities on Thanda revolve around the ocean. For game fishing, there is a 9m reef-runner catamaran and a deep-sea boat. The coral reefs that encircle Thanda can be explored by either snorkelling or scuba diving. Other sports include sailing, water skiing, wakeboarding and tubing.
