What is the best way to travel once you are abroad?

-

How often do you travel? Usually a few times a month for shows around SA and about twice a year overseas, either to North America or Europe. Describe your first holiday you remember as a child? We used to go to Plett with my family and cousins. My brother and I would ride our bikes around the town, go fishing, chill on the beach, surf and just had a lot of freedom to explore the environment. And your first trip abroad? I have travelled since I was very young. I think I was abroad before I was able to speak. My dad’s tours would last for months so my mom and I would meet him on the road and travel with the band as often as possible. I think by the time I was six years old, I had already travelled through Europe and the US numerous times. It was a fantastic way to grow up because I got to see so many different places, cultures, languages and music concerts — it broadened my horizons from a very young age. What is the most difficult, remote or adventurous destination you’ve ever been to? On my last North American tour we travelled all the way up to northern-most part of Canada. The town was called Saskatoon and it was extremely remote and had very intense weather. I think it was around minus 40°C when we arrived. I had never experienced cold like that and I remember my hands were freezing on stage, it made it difficult to play guitar. It was a beautiful place, though, surrounded by a vast wilderness where wild bears and moose roam. We actually saw a bear on the way out. I think you get quite an interesting perspective of a place using public transport, it’s gritty and real and you see people going on with their daily lives. I recently took a bus from Montreal to Toronto and got a great view of the Canadian landscape. You would miss these subtle things taking private taxis and flights. What is your favourite city? I love visiting New York and Toronto. They’re both very dynamic cities with a lot of appreciation for art and culture. You can visit
