Do you prefer roughing it or luxury when travelling? Describe the best experience you’ve had of either.

I like to have a some comforts, especially if I’m travelling for shows. I don’t like being surrounded by so much luxury that I feel disconnected though. The luxury, “tourist” destinations are generic around the world and I find you don’t get a sense of where you are at all. What has been your worst travel experience? I don’t think I’ve had any terrible travel experiences. I enjoy travelling no matter where I go. It’s an adventure whether it’s tough or easy. What is your best piece of travel advice? It’s important to keep an open mind and feel like whatever happens is part of an adventure. That makes it exciting, no matter what you encounter. What do you hate about travelling or holidays? I dislike being on the “tourist” circuit. It’s nice for a little relaxation but I get bored and frustrated if I’m stuck in a resort for too long. What elements — destination, people, attractions, etc — make up your perfect holiday? My favourite trips are when I’m moving through many different places and can get a little bit of time in each.

When I’m on tour I try to visit the art galleries or walk the city as often as possible. I like to feel connected to the places I visit and then it’s refreshing to pack up and move to the next place.

It’s a constant mental stimulation to navigate and experience many places in a short period, all the moments and memories start to blur into each other and you get a feel for a country rather than basing your perception on one hotel that you happened to stay in. Name one place you really want to go, now or at least some day? Alaska.
