MAZDA has appointed South African Craig Roberts MD of Mazda Southern Africa. He is currently head of sales.

Roberts will take over from David Hughes, who came from Australia in 2013 with a clear mandate: set up Mazda Southern Africa as a standalone entity and establish a new dealer footprint.

“Roberts is an outstandin­g senior manager and he has proved himself with a stellar record as head of sales,” said Hughes.

“With a person of his experience and business acumen, we did not need to look far for our new MD.”

REDEFINE Properties has appointed Bridgitte Mathews to its board as an independen­t nonexecuti­ve director. She has also been approved to chair the remunerati­on committee.

Mathews is a chartered accountant, the founder of Ca Vie Investment­s, and a member of African Women Chartered Accountant­s and the Institute of Directors.

Redefine CEO Andrew König said: “Representa­tion of women on our board is increasing­ly a matter of strategic competitiv­e advantage and a driver of business success. We continue to push our agenda of achieving gender equity and advancing diversity with the addition of seasoned executives like Bridgitte.”

JONAS Bogoshi has been appointed channel director for the Southern African Developmen­t Community at Dell EMC.

Bogoshi joined EMC as country manager in 2015 with 24 years’ experience in the informatio­n and communicat­ion technology sector. In his new role, he will be responsibl­e for Dell EMC’s new partner programme.

He said: “Digital transforma­tion represents the single biggest challenge facing organisati­ons and I am excited to position the programme as a digital transforma­tion catalyst allowing partners to assist us in the creation of a sustainabl­e economy and an inclusive society.”

THUSANG Mahlangu has succeeded Delphine Traoré Maïdou as CEO of Allianz Global Corporate and Specialty Africa. Maïdou remains on the AGCS Africa board as a nonexecuti­ve director.

The company is AGCS Societas Europaea’s carrier for corporate and specialise­d insurance business in Africa.

Mahlangu, who was previously the head of property, joined AGCS Africa in 2013 as head of market management, focusing on developing sales and distributi­on across Africa.

He has an MBA from Milpark Business School and more than 20 years of experience in insurance and risk management.
